Ferrari team principal Marco Mattiacci has warned his team not to overreact to yet another disappointing race weekend at the United States Grand Prix at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin Texas which saw his team score just eight points as Fernando Alonso finished the race in sixth place while Kimi Raikkonen finished the race in 13th place one lap down.
The Maranello based outfit also lost ground to the Williams Martini Racing Team in the race for third place in the Constructors championship as with just two Grand Prix remaining this season the Grove based outfit are now 42 points ahead of Ferrari who have scored just two podium finishes in what has been an extremely difficult 2014 campaign for the Italian team.
Out of their two drivers Kimi Raikkonen has struggled to get to grips with the F14-T however Mattiacci has stated that the Finn is under positive pressure and is sure that the Iceman will have a strong end to the 2014 season.
Raikkonen heads to the Brazilian Grand Prix in 12th place in the championship equal on points with Sahara Force India's Sergio Perez however he has a strong chance of overtaking the Mexican this weekend as Perez has a seven place grid penalty this weekend as a result of being found to have been 'reckless' in causing the crash that took both him and the Sauber F1 Team's Adrian Sutil out of the United States Grand Prix at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin last weekend.
Speaking following the race on Sunday Mattiacci stated:
'We know there is an issue with him and the feeling of the car - too much understeering at the front of the car, and we know this has been an ongoing issue during the season.'
He concluded by saying that as a team they need to work on the issues together and get to the bottom of the issues Raikkonen has faced this season.
