Lopez would have to consider Formula One future if a financial deal is not struck

Lotus F1 Team Chairman and acting team principal Gerard Lopez has revealed that he may have to consider his position in Formula One if something is not done to resolve the financial crisis currently facing Formula One after both the Caterham and Marussia F1 Team's entered administration last month.

Despite that news both teams appear on the official FIA Formula One entry list for 2015. Speaking to the Press Association ahead of this weekends Brazilian Grand Prix, Lopez stated:

'To be honest, if sponsors were to consider overall, then yes, of course. We're a privately-run team and we do a lot of other things in our lives - successfully.'

Lopez was responding to the question of would he consider leaving Formula One if the current financial structure within the sport doesn't change.

The Luxembourg businessman who bought the Renault team at the end of 2009 stated:

'I'd like to do this successfully too, but that's why we intend to stay and work something out that makes sense for everybody.'

The fact is what's happening now is not right for the sport, and long term, if things weren't to change, then you do have to think about whether something makes sense or not.''

The Enstone outfit head into this weekend's race in Brazil in 8th place in the Constructors championship on 10 points 20 behind the Toro Rosso team with just two Grand Prix remaining this season after Pastor Maldonado scored his first points of the season last time out at the Circuit of the Americas.
