World Endurance Championship driver Andre Lotterer has revealed that the Caterham F1 Team administrators have approached him about the possibility of driving for for the Leafield based outfit in the Formula One season finale at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix next weekend.

The 32 year old German who drives for the factory Audi LMP1 team in the World Endurance championship is currently in second place behind the Toyota pair of ex Formula One drivers Anthony Davidson and Sebastian Buemi.

Lotterer drove for the Caterham F1 Team on a one off occasion earlier this season when he filled in for regular race driver Kamui Kobayashi at the Belgian Grand Prix at the Spa Francorchamps circuit.

The German was forced to retire from the race on the opening lap of the race with a power unit failure. Lotterer is currently racing for Audi this weekend at the six hours of Bahrain at the Bahrain International Circuit while the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix takes place next weekend while the German has a weekend off before the WEC season finale in Sao Paulo Brazil on 30 November.

However Lotterer has stated that he is unsure at to whether or not he will take up Caterham's offer saying:

'Caterham wants me to race in Abu Dhabi but I am not sure if I will take up the offer.'
