No double points in 2015

Formula One Supremo Bernie Ecclestone has confirmed that the sport may not use the double points scheme in 2015.

The Abu Dhabi season finale next weekend will feature double points and this has been widely criticized by the teams, drivers and fans a like. Before the double points race has even taken place, Mr Ecclestone suggested that for 2015 double points could form the final three Grand Prix.

Speaking to the Independent newspaper in England Mr Ecclestone stated:

'I'm not going to propose the three races again. I'm going to let them (the teams) get on with it. I don't know what we're going to do next year.'

Mr Ecclestone has also accused the teams of thinking in the short term and described them as 'mechanics'.

The fact that the sport has double points for the race in Abu Dhabi means devalues the previous race in Brazil last weekend.

If the sport were to have double points for next season it should be for all of the Grand Prix on the calendar and not just the final three Grand Prix of the season. It is essential for Formula One to listen to the fans of the sport about what they would like to see in the sport and double points is something that fans do not want to see.
