McLaren announce restructuring programme within their technical department

The McLaren Formula One team have announced that they have begun a restructuring programme with their technical department with aim of o making the team operate more efficiently.

Following the arrival of Peter Pedromou from Infiniti Red Bull Racing in September the team have announced that as part of their continued push to return the Woking based outfit back to the front of Formula One that they have informed a number of staff within the technical department at the team that they no longer have a future at the team.

The team have announced the departure of head of aerodynamics Doug McKiernan who has been placed on gardening leave.

A McLaren spokesman confirmed that the team will be offering support to the staff members who have been affected by the restructure and will do everything they can to help them find positions elsewhere.

McLaren head into this afternoon's race in fifth place in the championship on 147 points 24 clear of Force India in sixth. The team will have a major upgrade package for the season finale in Abu Dhabi which has been sphere headed by Peter Pedromou.
