New Caterham F1 Team principal Christijan Albers has confirmed that the Leafield outfit have held talks with Formula Renault 3.5 Series driver and Red Bull backed Carlos Sainz Jnr, the son of former World Rally Champion Carlos Sainz however he has said that nothing has been agreed. Albers also stated:
'I have seen a lot of rumours in the press as usual in Formula 1, At this moment, of course, we have seen Carlos and we have spoken to him also but at this moment there is nothing done.
Albers went on to say:
'I did not say that I spoke with him about a race seat, I said we spoke with each other, yes. But the drivers are performing now. I was happy today, that's the situation.'
Sainz Jnr himself stated recently that he had spoken with the Caterham F1 Team however no sooner had the news broken, Infiniti Red Bull Racing boss Christian Hormer told the Spanish youngster to focus on his current racing career in the Formula Renault 3.5 Series.
