The Ferrari Formula One team have confirmed this afternoon that the head of their Engine and Electronics department Luca Marmorini has left the team as part of a restructuring programme within the Italian teams engine department following a disappointing 2014 campaign which has so far yielded just two podium finishes.

Marmorini's departure comes just four months after team boss Stefano Domenicali resigned from the team following their difficult start to the 2014 season.

Ferrari also announced that Mattia Binotto will take up the role of Chief Operations Officer of the the engine department while Lorenzo Sassi will remain at the team in the role of chief designer of the Ferrari power unit. Ferrari chassis technical director James will remain in his role over-seeing the entire car. He will continue to be assisted by Nikolas Tombazis who remains at the team in his current role of chief chassis designer.

Ferrari have struggled with their power unit so far this season and it was reported over the Hungarian Grand Prix that as well as being down on power compared to Mercedes the power unit is also overweight.
