Mercedes Motorsport director Toto Wolff has confirmed that now that Nico Rosberg has extended his stay with the Brackley based outfit they have no begun discussions with Lewis Hamilton as they aim to extend the 2008 world champions contract.
Hamilton is currently in the middle of his Mercedes contract. Hamilton, who is currently battling team mate Nico Rosberg for this year's championship declared recently that he is 'very, very happy in the team and naturally I assume I'll sit down with the bosses and we'll discuss the future.'
It has been reported recently however that McLaren have put the feelers out out and opened what have been described as tentative talks with the 2008 world champion. Hamilton isn't ruling anything have said that anything is possible but at this moment in time he is focused on closing the 14 point gap that Nico Rosberg currently holds over him.
Wolff has stated that:
'Lewis is a fixed part of the team, and I would hope for a long time to come.'
