Scuderia Toro Rosso team principal Franz Tost has stated that Russian rookie driver Danii Kvyat 'is doing a fantastic job'. The 20 year old joined the Italian team from the GP3 championship replacing Daniel Ricciardo who was promoted up to reigning world champions Infiniti Red Bull Racing replacing Mark Webber.

So far this season, Kvyat has scored 6 point's and lies in 15th place just two places behind team mate Jean Eric Vergne who had been looked at as Webber's replacement at Red Bull Racing but the team elected to go with Daniel Ricciardo. Speaking about Kvyat's performances in 2014, Tost commented:

'He is doing a very good job, taking into consideration how little mileage he was able to do before the season. He is driving very well, showing that he has natural speed.'

The Russian scored two point's on his Formula One debut Down Under in Melbourne, Australia when he finished the race in 9th place having started the race from 8th place on the grid.

Tost has been delighted with the mature driving style of the young Russian who has made no mistakes and has just been unlucky with reliable issues with his car. Tost also praised Jean Eric Vergne due to the Frenchman's experience and technical feedback to the team. He feels that there is more to come from Vergne in the second half of the season.

Vergne drove extremely well during the Hungarian Grand Prix last weekend and was up as high as second place and went on to finish the race in 9th place to collect two points for the team.

Toro Rosso are currently in 7th place in the Constructors championship on 17 points nine clear of the Lotus F1 Team who are in 8th place.
