New Formula One entrant American Gene Haas has revealed that Ken Anderson, one of the men behind the ill fated US F1 project approached him about investing in the project ahead of their entry into Formula One in 2010. The project was also backed by Youtube boss Chad Hurley but at the time Haas was not interested in getting involved in Formula One.

Despite been granted a licence to enter Formula One in 2010 the US F1 project failed to gt off the ground and Haas also revealed that it wasn't until he was approached by former Red Bull Racing technical director Guenther Steiner that he decided to lodge an application with the FIA for a place on the Formula One grid.

Haas realized that there was a cheaper way of doing Formula One and is already in talks with Ferrari over of potential technical partnership which would help him to reduce the cost of running his Haas Formula operation which was granted entry to Formula One for next season however he has elected to defer entry until 2016 to allow his team extra time to prepare for the debut.

Haas also stated that he was surprised that no other American had attempted to enter Formula One in recent years.

Haas Formula's main base of operations will be in Charlotte, North Carolina next door to his Stewart Haas NASCAR Racing Team and the outfit will also have a European base in the United Kingdom. An announcement as to who the new teams engine supplier is due to be announced in the few day's.
