Red Bull Racing Motorsport adviser Dr Helmut Marko has claimed that McLaren have made quadruple world champion Sebastian Vettel an 'outrageously high offer' to join the team next season replacing Jenson Button.

Marko also revealed that Red Bull were reportedly approached by current runaway championship leaders Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team about signing Vettel.

Marko's claims come following a difficult start to the 2014 Formula One season after winning four driver's and constructor's championships in a row. The Milton Keynes based outfit are currently second in the constructors championship, 178 points behind Mercedes as the F1 circus head to the Hungaroring this weekend.

The Milton Keynes based outfit head into the race hoping to close the gap in the championship. Vettel has also seen Daniel Ricciardo come into the team and beat Vettel from the start with the Australian in third place in the championship while Vettel is currently in 6th place, 24 points behind Ricciardo.

Earlier this season it was announced that the team's chief technical officer Adrian Newey would be stepping back from the Formula One operation which immediately called in question Vettel's future wit the team. Vettel will remain with the team next season but it is unclear whether he will reamin with the team beyond next season.
