Investigation ordered into the cause of Bianchi's crash

(Marussia F1 Team via Twitter)

Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone has stated that he wants an independent investigation into Jules Bainchi's accident at the Japanese Grand Prix over the weekend. Mr Ecclestone wasn't at the Japanese Grand Prix at the weekend.

FIA President Jean Todt asked Formula One race director Charlie Whiting to launch 'a complete and detailed' report into the accident.

I has been suggested that Whiting's report finding could be ready prior to tis weekend's inaugural Russian Grand Prix in Sochi. Speaking to the Times newspaper, Ecclestone commented:

'It's difficult for me to say what happened and it will be for an inquiry to find out exactly what did go on,'

It is understood that there will be a briefing on Jules Bianchi's condition from the Mie general hospital.
