Lotus F1 deputy team principal Frederico Gastaldi has confirmed that the Enstone based outfit will announce their power unit supplier shortly and that they are just being held up by paperwork from current engine partner Renault. Speaking to Autosport in Japan the Argentinian stated:

'We are hoping to do that as soon as possible'. when asked his team will announce their plans for next season.

The Lotus F1 Team have endured a difficult 2014 season and find themselves in eighth place in the championship on eight points having scored in Spain and Monaco earlier this season. It was revealed in July that the team would be switching suppliers but at the time no official announcement was made and it still to be confirmed.

Gastaldi went on to say that the hold up had nothing to with finances at the team as it is healthy in that department and have lower levels of debt that previously thought.

He also confirmed that there is no doubt over the Mercedes deal, that the team and the German manufacturer are just waiting for the right moment to make the announcement. Lotus will replace McLaren as Mercedes fourth engine supplier joining the Mercedes 'works' team, Sahara Force India and the Williams Martini Racing Team.
