Typhoon Phanfone could cause pack up delay following Sunday's Japanese Grand Prix

(Mercedes AMG F1 Team)

Formula One crews may face a race again time and the elements following the conclusion of Sunday's Japanese Grand Prix with typhoon Phanfone now expected to hit the circuit on Sunday afternoon instead of the predicted Monday. The FIA have stated that they are continuing to monitor the weather situation and this could lead Sunday's race to be held earlier then it's 3PM slated start time.

Should the race go ahead earlier then anticipated it would mean that the team's could be de-rigging the garages and pit-lane while trying to battle the potentially 160MPH winds which would cause major health and safety concerns.

The team's will need to be out of Suzuka by Sunday night Monday morning at the latest with Lotus F1 race team co-ordinator Geoff Simmons revealing to Sky Sports News HQ this morning that the team's are tied to the flight schedules of their carriers and will if they miss their slot it would cause logistical issues for the teams.

The next race, the inaugural Russian Grand Prix is just one week away with teams ideally aiming to be at the circuit on Tuesday or Wednesday of next week to ensure that they have enough time to set up for the race weekend.
