Typhoon threatens Japanese Grand Prix this weekend

This weekend's Japanese Grand Prix could be thrown into chaos with the impeding approach of typhoon Phanfone which is expected to hit Suzuka just prior to the start of the Grand Prix on Sunday. Officials at the circuit have stated that they looking at all options relating to the race one being that it could be staged earlier in the day to avoid the poor weather.

Suzuka was hit by a rain storm on Thursday as team's continued their preparations for Sunday's race and on media day. 

Forecasters predict that qualifying and the race on Sunday will be affected by the wet weather and they are expecting winds of up to and including 160mph which would would potentially cause the cancellation of the race. 

It is at the desecration of commercial rights holder Bernie Ecclestone as to what will happen nd whether or not the race will go ahead or not. 

It would be impossible for the race to be held on Monday as the inaugural Russian Grand Prix at the Sochi circuit is set to take place next weekend.
