Ferrari's Fernando Alonso has confirmed that he is fully concentrated this season and ending 2014 in the strongest position possible for Ferrari and that he is not thinking about next year. Speaking ahead of this weekend's Japanese Grand Prix the Spaniard commented:
'I live for my job and prepare myself from January 1 - December 31 with every team I drive for. It's no different here but it is more special because this is a different team and the best team i the world.'
The Spaniard, who has a contract in place with Ferrari until the end of the 2016 season has had to deal with speculation surrounding his Formula One future for months despite the fact that Ferrari team boss Marco Mattiacci stated recently that both he and team mate Kimi Raikkonen will remain with the Italian outfit next season.
Most recently, Alonso has been linked with a switch to Red Bull Racing making a swap with reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel, however the German has poured cold water on this by saying that he knows that he will be Red Bull next season.
Alonso has also been linked with a return to McLaren where he drove in 2007 alongside Lewis Hamilton before parting company with the outfit in favour of a return to Renault.
Alonso also confirmed that over the last five season's with Ferrari he has always had the best interests of the Italian team.
Alonso is fully aware of the speculation and that right now both he and Kimi Raikkonen are focused on the job at hand at that is to beat Williams Martini Racing in the Constructors championship as the Grove based outfit currently lead Ferrari by 9 points with five race's remaining this season.
