Interim McLaren Honda MP4-29H chassis set to run for the first time on Friday during Silverstone filming day

The McLaren Formula One team confirmed via Twitter on Thursday morning that they will complete a systems check on their new Honda power unit which they will use in 2015 when the Japanese manufacturer returns to Formula One.

The chassis has been dubbed the MP4-29H and the team will be limited in the running that thwy will be allowed to do as in season testing is banned however the team are conducting a filming day and will run an number of their old Honda powered cars along with the interim car to make sure that the new power unit works and that it is installed properly.

The team are hoping that if everything goes well with the interim car on Friday they will be in a position to run the car in the season ending test session in Abu Dhabi immediately after the season finale at the Yas Marina circuit the week after next.

The test on Friday will will be conducted using demonstration Pirelli rubber. The team confirmed the news on Twitter saying:

'Getting set for Silverstone tomorrow for a filming day. We'll be parading the interim Honda-engined MP4-29H/1X1 & 2 classic McLaren-Hondas.'

The Woking based outfits test drivers Stoffel Vandoorne and Oliver Turvey will share the driving duties.
