Williams Martini Racing deputy team principal Claire Williams has confirmed that the Grove based outfit never considered Fernando Alonso for a drive in 2015 as they are 'very happy with the drivers that we have'.
Speaking to the official Formula One website Williams confirmed that with both Valtteri Bottas and Felipe Massa under contract for next season making a move Alonso was never an option for the Mercedes powered team.
Fernando Alonso is set to be confirmed as a McLaren driver next week however the identity of his team mate is not clear with McLaren Chairman Ron Dennis and Racing Director Eric Boullier set to hold final discussions this week before making an announcement next week.
The Williams team signed Felipe Massa, Alonso's former team mate at Ferrari for this season and the Grove based outfit have been extremely pleased with both Bottas and Massa who between them have scored seven podium finishes with Bottas currently in 6th place in the championship just one point behind Alonso.
Felipe Massa who scored a podium last time out in Brazil is currently right place in the championship on 98 points.
Williams Martini Racing announced on the morning on the Italian Grand Prix in Monza that they would be retaining both Bottas and Massa for next season and the team head into the final race of the season in Abu Dhabi next weekend in third place in the Constructors championship 44 points ahead of Ferrari having scored points in every race of the season so far which was the teams objective at the start of the season.
Williams also stated that chief technical officer Pat Symonds has been instrumental in the teams return to form since he joined the outfit in August 2013.
Williams have scored 254 points so far in 2014 compared to just 5 points in 2013 just goes to show how far the team have come in such a short space of time.
