Caterham - Point's not assured in Melbourne

(Bernard Asset - Renault Sport F1)

Caterham team principal Cyril Abiteboul has warned that his outfit should not go to Melbourne expecting point's should the team manage to finish the first race of the season. All of the team's on the grid including Caterham have suffered reliability issues over the course of winter testing, some team's more then others as the sport adapts to the new turbo era and new technology.

Abiteboul believes that by the time Formula One touches down in Melbourne next weekend that teams will have sorted out their reliability issues as Formula One as a sport is very good at creating perfection and just because there have been issues with the new cars does not mean that there will be multiple failures in Australia.

Caterham like the other Renault powered teams on the grid experienced serious problems with their new car however despite this, over the course of the final winter test in Bahrain the Leafield squad completed 297 laps which was the most amount of laps completed by any of the Renault powered teams.

There are only 12 days to go until the new Formula One season gets underway so fans will be able to see who will be in the points and indeed who will finish the race. Having suffered issues in testing with one car teams will have to work extra hard in order to ensure that they can get both cars to the chequered flag on Sunday. The Australian Grand Prix is LIVE on Sky Sports F1 across next weekend.
