The Sauber F1 Team confirmed today that test driver Giedo Van Der Garde will make his test debut for the Swiss outfit during the First Free Practice for the Bahrain Grand Prix on Friday.
The Dutch driver who lost his Caterham race seat at the end of last season will fill in for regular race driver Esteban Gutierrez ahead of Sunday's race at the Sakhir circuit. It will be the first time that Van Der Garde will get drive the new era of 1.6 litre V6 turbo charged power unit.
The team also confirmed today that their Russian rookie Sergey Siroktin will drive for them on the first day of the in-season test which takes place next Tuesday and Wednesday. The Russian will drive the C33 in order to obtain his mandatory FIA Super Licence before heading over the car to Van Der Garde for the second day.
