Software issue costs Vettel

Red Bull Racing's Sebastian Vettel has confirmed that an engine software glitch was a contributing factor to in the world champion qualifying for tomorrow's Australian Grand Prix in 12th place.

Speaking after the session, Vettel said 'There wasn't supposed to be a difference with Ricciardo's car, but today we had problems on my side which we need to understand'.

It is the first time since Hungary last year that Sebastian Vettel have failed to secure pole position for  Grand Prix.

Following the Milton Keynes based outfits disappointing winter Vettel is unsure whether the team will be able to go the whole distance in tomorrow's race as he said 'You don't have to be a genius to see the situation. We haven't done a race simulation, a race distance in one go. We have improved reliability because we have put parts on the car with similar mileage'.

It wasn't all doom and gloom for Red Bull on Saturday as Daniel Ricciardo, in his first race weekend for the reigning world champions put in a sensational performance in front of his home crowd to put his RB10 on the front row of the grid alongside pole sitter Lewis Hamilton managing to split the two Mercedes cars.

Sunday's event is a 58 lap race and with it expected to be dry for the entire race it is going to be extremely interesting to see how strategies play out and literally absolutely anything is possible.
