Vettel critical of new engine sound

(Francois Flamand -DPPI)

Reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel has become the latest critic of the sound of the new V6 turbo charged power units in Formula One. Vettel who watched the season opening Australian Grand Prix from the pit-wall following his retirement from the race said:

'It's shit, that's my opinion and I think the fans aswell. I think Formula One has to be spectacular and the sound is one of the most important things.

He is not the only one who is not a fan of the sound after Australian Grand Prix promoter Ron Walker also criticised the sound of Formula One by saying:

'The sound is a disgrace, this is not we paid for'. Walker, who is the chairman of the Grand Prix Promoters Association has said that the sports runs the risk of circuits 'walking away from the sport if something is not done about the sound'

Despite the criticism of the new sound of Formula One not everyone feels the same as McLaren's Jenson Button said: 'Go and race something else if you're not happy, as drivers we don't have an opinion on where the cars are in terms of sound and feel.

The new V6 turbo charged power units sound great and although there has been criticism it will take time for people who don't like the sound to get used to the new era of Formula One after all we are only just about to have the second race of the season.

Only time will tell as to how people find the new sound. It certainly should not be judged on the events of one race, after all the first race of the season in Melbourne was action packed and that is exactly what fans want to see...Competitive racing.
