Stanford leaves race team role

Williams Martini Racing have announced that team manager Dickie Stanford has resigned from his position with the Grove based squad. In a statement deputy team principal Claire Williams said:

'Dickie has unfortunately decided to step down at the start of the season, he got us through testing, he did a great job, but wants a different role within the team'.

Stanford joined the Williams team in 1985 a race team mechanic and was promoted to race team manager in 1995 he held this position until 2005 when he elected to move to a factory based position in order to spend more time with his family.

He was re-appointed to the position of race team manager in 2010 and has held the position every since. Williams confirmed that they are now in discussions with Stanford in relation to him taking up a new role within the team.

Former McLaren technical co-ordinator Peter Vale has been appointed as the new race team manager.
