Force India hoping to catch other Mercedes powered teams

(Sahara Force India Formula One Team)

The Sahara Force India Formula One team believe they have plenty of work to do in order to catch the other Mercedes powered teams following what they deem as a disappointing first race of the 2014 season despite a double points finish.

Nico Hulkenberg finished the race in 6th place having run in fourth place in the early stages of the Grand Prix.Sergio Perez initially finished the race in 11th but was promoted to 10th and picked up one point following the disqualification of Red Bull Racing's Daniel Ricciardo. Despite being in fifth place in the Constructors championship following the open race of the season, Force India are behind the other Mercedes powered teams.

Speaking to the UK media about the result in Australia, deputy team principal Bob Fearnley said the performance was 'acceptable but not exceptional'

He went on to say 'It was good, but probably not a good as we would have liked'.

The team have some new parts coming for the next race in Malaysia next weekend and they will 'Just go full speed ahead with development'.

The Silverstone based team were extremely quick during winter testing and it is now just a matter of extracting the speed out of the VJM07 to enable the team to move forward this season.
