Suspension failure curtails Grosjean

(Francois Flamond - DPPI)

Romain Grosjean endured a difficult start to the 2014 Formula One season for the Lotus F1 Team during today's Free Practice sessions ahead of Sunday's opening race in Albert Park. Melbourne.
He failed to make it out on track this morning as the team worked to fix an issue with the E22 and during the afternoon he suffered a suspected rear suspension failure which resulted in him spinning into the gravel.

Speaking to the media following todays running Grosjean said: 'We are not on top of everything right now. That's when you pay the for the fact that you didn't do much mileage in Winter testing'.

Grosjean was not optimistic when asked if he believed Lotus would last the race distance on Sunday. He replied 'There are a lot of unknowns and we cannot be confident'

Despite setting the 18th fastest lap today Grosjean is certain that the team will be able to compete in the midfield.

Talking about the new car, Grosjean said that there are still a lot of thing s to learn and at present the team are not where they would like to be.

At this early stage of the season teams have to be extremely patient as they get used to the new systems in place in the sport. It is certainly going to be an extremely Qualifying session tomorrow and the race will be even better on Sunday we are certainly going to be in for some major surprises.
