Dennis - No hurry in appointing new McLaren CEO

(McLaren Mercedes)

McLaren Group chairman Ron Dennis has confirmed that he is no rush to appoint a new team CEO. It was announced in January that Eric Boullier had been brought in to a newly created role of Racing Director at McLaren Racing.

The decision to bring the Frenchman in from Lotus meant that he was replacing Martin Whitmarsh who had taken over the team principal role from Dennis in 2009. Dennis confirmed today that the team no longer have a team principal.

During pre-season testing Eric Boullier confirmed that in his new role as Racing Director he has taken on the responsibilities of team principal and that his primary role will be to concentrate on improving the teams on track performance.

When it comes to who will be appointed as the new team CEO, Dennis has not ruled out leaving Jonathan Neale in the position as he has taken up the role temporarily.

Dennis has said that he will take his time to decide who will take up the role as he wants to ensure the long-term future of the team. Dennis is confident that the team will get back to winning Grand Prix this season. It is unclear however, what the future has in store for Martin Whitmarsh.

Ron Dennis also confirmed today that for the first race at least McLaren will not have a title sponsor. The team lost their title sponsor Vodafone at the end of last season following seven season's with the telecommunications giant.
