The Marussia F1 Team's Jules Bianchi has stated that a move to Ferrari for 2015 is not the plan but he feels that he is ready to step up if the Italian team were to come looking for him. The Frenchman deputized for the injured Kimi Raikkonen who was rested for this weeks Silverstone test. Bianchi impressed as he topped the time-sheets.
Speaking following the test Bianchi said:
'At the moment I know that it is not the plan for the next year because they have a plan for their drivers, So I will just focus on what I have to do which is Marussia at the moment and try to get good results. We have shown that when we get the opportunity we can get good results at Marussia too and I think it is really important for me to keep going like this and one day if they want me I will be ready.'
Bianchi went on to say:
'Obviously considering I am part of the Academy I think that is the target one day so I have to show them that I am ready in any case, but at the moment they have two drivers who are doing a good job so I don't think it is the plan.I think I have shown the team that I can work well and be quick, but again it was a day of testing and it was not the target to compare me with other drivers. The target was just to improve the car and help the team and I think I have done my job with that.'
Ferrari boss Marco Mattiacci has confirmed that both Kimi Raikkonen and Fernando Alonso will remain with the team next season and the Italian has played down suggests from Kimi Raikkonen that he could retire from Formula One at the end of next season.
Raikkonen has a contract with the Italian team for 2015 with an option 'on his side' to continue with the team in 2016 however speaking over the course of the British Grand Prix weekend Mattiacci said that the Finn has yet to mention anything in relation to 2016.
