Bianchi ends shortened Silverstone test on top for Ferrari as Pirelli test prototype tyre

The Marussia F1 Team's Jules Bianchi topped the time-sheets on the final day of the Silverstone in-season test. The Frenchman filled in for the injured Kimi Raikkonen who had been due to test for the Italian team today but the outfit decided to rest the Finn. Toro Rosso's Daniil Kvyat had been leading however the red flags came out shortly before the end of the session after Sauber's Giedo Van Der Garde hit the barrier's heavily. As a result the barrier's had to be repaired.

Shortly before the end of the session Bianchi posted the fastest time finishing just ahead Kvyat and McLaren's Kevin Magnussen.

Jules Bianchi completed 89 lap's for Ferrari today. It was the first time that the Frenchman had driven the F14-T. Despite bringing out the red flag, Sauber's Giedo Van Der Garde finished the day in fourth place setting a time of 1m 36.327s while completing 84 laps for the Swiss based team. 

British Grand Prix race winner Lewis Hamilton was fifth fastest for Mercedes despite bringing the red flags out after putting his W05 in the gravel. The 2008 world championship completed 47 laps with a fastest time of 1m 36.680s. 

Valtteri Bottas was next for the Williams Martini Racing Team and completed 40 laps in the FW36 with a time of 1m 37.193s.

Max Chilton was 8th fastest for the Marussia F1 Team, completing 77 laps for the Banbury based outfit. His fastest time was a 1m 37.359s. Spain's Daniel Juncadella was 9th fastest for the Sahara Force India Formula One Team and completed 52 laps in the VJM07. His fastest time was a 1m 37.449s.

Reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel rounded out the top ten for Infiniti Red Bull Racing, the German completed 76 laps and set a time of 1m 39.410s. The Lotus F1 Team's Charle Pic was eleventh fastest. The Frenchman ran Pirelli's new prototype 18'' tyre this morning and conducting 14 lap's of the Silverstone circuit with the tyre giving the Italian company valuable data on the new tyre which could be introduced into F1 in 2016 rather then 2017 as first forecast.

Julian Leal rounded out the time-sheet's for the Caterham F1 Team in 12th  place completing 51 laps for the Leafield based outfit. The next time the cars will be on track will be for Free Practice One in Hockenheim where Williams Martini Racing's Susie Wolff will get her second outing of the season.
