The Lotus F1 Team have debuted Pirelli's brand new 18'' prototype lower profile tyre. Formula One current use Pirelli's P Zero 13'' tyre and the idea behind the larger tyre is for Pirelli's Formula One tyre technology to become more relevant to road car technology.
The Lotus F1 Team's Charles Pic is running the new tyre today as the Enstone based outfit carry out a day of tyre testing for Pirelli.
Pirelli's idea is to introduce the new tyre in 2017. Today's running is just to understand what the new tyre would look like fitted to a current Formula One car.
