(Florent Gooden DPPI for Renault Sport F1)
The Lotus F1 Team's Pastor Maldonado has said he is extremely happy with the latest engine update from Renault that the Venezuelan tested during the opening day of the in season test in Silverstone following the British Grand Prix on Tuesday. The Enstone outfit have struggled so far this season compared to their rivals and currently lie in 8th place in the Constructors championship on eight points as Formula One heads to Germany for round 10 of season.
Speaking to Crash.net following the test, Maldonado said:
'It's like a double engine now! It's much quicker, much more powerful. After the race [British GP] we were checking the data and we were more than 60 horsepower less than normal. So we were losing a lot.'
Maldonado, who has yet to score points for the Lotus F1 Team since joining the Enstone outfit from Williams over the Winter confirmed that he will run the updated Renault power unit at the next race in Germany next weekend. The Venezuelan commented:
'In the next race yes, because we don't have any [old engines]," he said. "We will take the new one.'
