Vettel not giving up on title chase

Reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel has refused to give up on winning a fifth consecutive Driver's championship despite the fact that the German is 95 points behind championship leader Mercedes Nico Rosberg. Last season Vettel won his home race at the Nurburgring and the last time Red Bull raced at the Hockenheimring Vettel finished the Grand Prix in fifth place so he will be hoping for a similar result this weekend.

Speaking about the championship Vettel said:

'If you look at points and mathematics we can still fight for the world championship, so it would be stupid to say we're out, Being realistic, Mercedes is in a position where it can win every race and get a one-two, without having people bother them too much unless things are going wrong.'

The four time world championship, who has dominated Formula One for the last four season's went on to say:

'Our target is to catch up and beat them sooner rather than later, but the gap is very big so therefore it's difficult to close it in a short amount of time. "I've never really stressed at any point in the season to focus too hard on the championship, I've really gone race to race and tried to get the best out of myself and the car.'

Vettel admits that catching Mercedes is going to be a struggle but with the team working extremely hard anything is possible. Infiniti Red Bull Racing are in second place in the Constructors championship 158 points behind the Mercedes AMG F1 Team who are currently the class of the 2014 field having taken 8 wins from 9 race's.

The only other team who have won a Grand Prix this season are Infiniti Red Bull Racing after Daniel Ricciardo took his first ever Formula One at the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal last month.
