Former Marussia F1 Team driver Max Chilton has joined Carlin Racing in America as the team aim to make the move into the Verizon IndyCar Series.

In a joint project with Trevor Carlin, who he raced for in the GP2 and the British Formula 3 championship, Chilton will assist the team with its preparations for a move into the Indy Lights Series, the feeder category to the IndyCar.

Chilton will then aim to use what he has learnt in 2015 with the Indy Lights preparation to make his debut with Carlin in the Verizon IndyCar Series.

The Englishman, who competed in 35 Grand Prix events with the Marussia F1 Team will take part in a test programme with Carlin driver Ed Jones at the Homestead Miami Speedway Road and Oval course in preparation for the teams’ debut this year.

Chilton is excited to be helping Carlin with their preparations to race in America and is still considering his options with regards to his own future. Chilton is hoping to help Carlin get the most out of their first season competing in American open wheel racing.
