(Mercedes AMG PETRONAS F1 Team)
Reigning world champion Lewis Hamilton has revealed that he
feels no stress going into the 2015 season despite having not yet signed a
contract extension with Mercedes.
Hamilton joined the Mercedes AMG PETRONAS F1 Team in 2013
from McLaren and had a fantastic season in 2014 winning the championship by 67
points ahead of team mate Nico Rosberg. Speaking to Sky Sports Hamilton stated
that he is confident that an agreement can be reached and that he knows the
team aren’t in talks with anyone else and the team know he is not speaking to
other teams.
Hamilton’s comments come after Mercedes Executive Director
(Business) Toto Wolff confirmed that the team would consider approaching
McLaren Honda’s Fernando Alonso if a deal is not completed with Hamilton.
However, Alonso is at the start of a long term contract with
McLaren-Honda although it is understood that the Spaniard has a get out clause
if he feels that the new Honda unit has not given him the performance he was
looking for.
Hamilton also said that he has not driven the new W06 yet but from
what he has seen the new car ‘looks nice.’
