The Barcelona Circuit De Catalunya in Spain and the Red Bull
Ring in Austria will host the only two in-season Formula One tests in 2015.
In 2014, there were four in season tests following the
Bahrain, Spanish, British and Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. However after consultation
with the teams and the FIA, it has been decided that only two tests will take
place this season as a way of reducing costs for the teams.
The tests will once again be carried out over two days and
it has been stipulated in the 2015 Sporting Regulations which were published on
Thursday that on two out of the four days teams will be required to run drivers
with less than two Grand Prix starts.
This season, instead of the traditional four winter test
sessions, there will just be three tests all of which will take place in Spain
during February at the Jerez and Barcelona circuits. Ahead of the 2016 season, only two European based tests will
take place.
