Infiniti Red Bull Racing Team Principal Christian Horner has confirmed that his team’s new RB11 chassis will be ready for this weekend’s opening winter test in Jerez despite the fact that it is still in production.

Speaking at a media event in Milton Keynes on Tuesday Horner stated that right now the car is not ready but that this was planned as the team’s designers were granted permission to delay the production process to allow them extra time to work on the design of the car is the hoping of being able to catch up to Mercedes from the start of winter testing.

Horner praised the work of his team but stated that there is still plenty of work to be done in order to get the car finished and shipped to Jerez. The first of the team’s transporters left their Milton Keynes HQ on Monday to deliver freight and set up ahead of Sunday.

Horner is hopeful that this year’s winter testing programme will go much better than it did for the team last season as he says that they know the benchmark that they are aiming for and that work completed over the winter has been very positive.

Despite a tough start to the 2014 season, the Milton Keynes based outfit finished the year in second place in the Constructors championship albeit 296 points behind champions the Mercedes AMG PETRONAS F1 Team.
