Gutierrez hopes to hit the ground running in his new role at Ferrari

(Sauber F1 Team)

New Scuderia Ferrari test driver Esteban Gutierrez is hoping that his time with the Sauber F1 Team will allow him to settle into life at the Italian outfit quickly.

The Mexican signed for Ferrari before Christmas after losing his Formula One race seat with the Sauber F1 Team as the Swiss outfit decided to opt for an all new driver line up with Marcus Ericsson and Felipe Nasr joining the team.

Gutierrez was in Maranello earlier this week for the first time to meet the team. The Mexican is hoping that he will be able to help the team move forward this season after a disastrous 2014 campaign for the Prancing Horse which saw the team fail to win a single race for the first time since the 1993 Formula One season.

Gutierrez isn’t the only new face at Scuderia Ferrari this season as four time world champion Sebastian Vettel joins the team from Infiniti Red Bull Racing as Kimi Raikkonen’s team mate.

Maurizio Arrivabene also joins the outfit as Managing Director and Team Principal from Philip Morris. Former Scuderia Toro Rosso driver turned Formula E racer Jean Eric Vergne has joined the team as test and reserve driver and will combine his new role at Maranello with his Formula E commitments with Andretti Autosport.
