Hamilton could wrap up the 2015 F1 championship mid year

(Mercedes AMG PETRONAS F1 Team)

Anthony Hamilton, the father of reigning Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton believes that the Mercedes AMG PETRONAS F1 Team driver can will the 2015 Formula One title by mid-season.

Hamilton secured his second world championship at the final race of the season in 2014 at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix which counted for double points. This year however, that rule has been dropped. In the end, Lewis Hamilton won the championship by 67 points from Mercedes team mate Nico Rosberg.

Anthony Hamilton expects that Nico Rosberg will come back this season, and will give 150 percent throughout the year.

He feels however, that if the new Mercedes W06 is a competitive chassis and is reliable then his season has every chance to retain his world championship and emulate Ayrton Senna who won three world champions during his career.

Hamilton feels that his son could win the champion midway through the year if he starts the 2015 season in the same that he did last season.

Speaking about the rivalry between his son and Nico Rosberg going into 2015, Hamilton Snr believes that this year will see a different sort of rivalry between the pair who enter their third season as team mates. He feels that both drivers ‘are sensitive to each other.’
