Kamatsu appointed Chief Engineer at the Lotus F1 Team

Ayao Kamatsu has been named as Chief Engineer at the Lotus F1 Team, Romain Grosjean confirmed via his official Twitter feed.

It was revealed yesterday that the Frenchman has a new race engineer for the 2015 Formula One season as Julien Simon-Chautemps moves across from Pastor Maldonado’s side of the garage. Kamatsu spent three years as Grosjean’s race engineer.

Kamatsu began his Formula One career as a tyre engineer with British America Racing Team in November 2003 spending two years with the Brackley based outfit. Kamatsu joined Renault in 2006 as performance engineer.

In 2011, he was appointed to the role of race engineer, a position he held up until the end of last season.
