No get out clause for Alonso

(McLaren-Honda)

McLaren Technology Group Chairman Ron Dennis has confirmed that new signing Fernando Alonso has no performance related get out clause with the Woking based outfit amid suggestions that the Mercedes AMG PETRONAS F1 Team could try and sign Alonso for next season should reigning world champion Lewis Hamilton leave the team.

Dennis confirmed that no driver has ever had a get out clause and that is the case with Alonso. The 67 year old has also dismissed suggestions that he could be ousted by the board if he does not come up with the capital to buy shares in McLaren that would allow him to take a majority shareholding in the company. Dennis currently owns 25 percent of the McLaren Technology Group.

Dennis also confirmed that there is no time limit to when the capital needs to be raised. The Englishman has also played down reports that the team approached Christian Horner, saying

'not to my knowledge and I certainly didn’t.’
