New race engineer for Grosjean

(Sam Bloxham for the Lotus F1 Team)

The Lotus F1 Team have confirmed that as part of restructuring programme ahead of the start of the 2015 Formula One season Romain Grosjean will get a new race engineer.

Julien Simon-Chautemps moves across from Pastor Maldonado’s side of the garage having previously been Kimi Raikkonen’s performance engineer during the Finn’s time at the Enstone based outfit.

Simon-Chautemps replaces Ayo Komatsu who has been Romain Grosjean’s race engineer since the Frenchman returned to Enstone in 2012.

It is unclear where Komatsu will do next but it will no doubt be announced soon. Romain Grosjean has confirmed that he had to change his driving style last season due to the change in the technical regulations.

The Frenchman stated that he had to change his style due to the fact that the E22 was an unpredictable car to drive.

However, he feels that the changes that he made and his new race engineer will help him to be more competitive this season.

The Lotus F1 Team have a new power unit supplier this season with Mercedes taking over from Renault.

Grosjean also scored eight of the Lotus F1 Team’s 10 points as they finished the season in eighth place in the championship.
