FIA President Jean Todt is taking action against former Formula One driver Philippe Streiff as a result of comments he made about the review of Jules Bianchi’s accident in Japan last year.

Streiff claimed to a French television station that the Accident Review Panel set up to investigation Jules Bianchi’s accident during last year’s Japanese Grand Prix was set up with the sole purpose of clearing the FIA of any blame in the accident.

The FIA released a statement on behalf of President Jean Todt and President of the FIA Medical Commission Gerard Saillant to say that they are dismayed by the defamatory and insulting comments made by Streiff, who is wheelchair bound following a Formula One testing accident in 1989.

The matter is now in the hands of their lawyers following the insulting and malicious attack on the reputations of Mr Todt and Mr Saillant.
