Porsche have no intention to run a Formula One programme

(Mercedes AMG PETRONAS F1 Team)

Porsche have confirmed that they have absolutely no interest in returning to Formula One amid reports linking the German manufacturer with a return to the sport.

Porsche were last involved in Formula One as an engine supplier under the TAG-Porsche mantle from 1985-1987. The German manufacturer joined the World Endurance Championship last year running a team in the LMP1 class with Mark Webber as one of their drivers in a prototype 919 hybrid.

The company will once again contest the LeMans 24 Hours in 2015 with Sahara Force India Formula One driver Nico Hulkenberg competing for the team as well as racing in the six hours of Spa race.

The company’s chief designer Wolfgang Hatz has stated that:

‘Formula One is not a topic for us and it will not be one’ he told Auto Motor Und Sport.
