Formula One race director Charlie Whiting believes that the new circuit being built in Sochi by the Olympic park will be a great track from the driver's point of view. Whiting is extremely impressed with how the authorities have made incredible progress with the circuit. Whiting and his FIA technical team visited the circuit for the first time in a year following the Winter Olympics and Whiting said:
'It will be a fast track, and I think it will be a really competitive track as there will be at least two or three places where drivers can overtake properly. I think that will be a very interesting track and a very spectacular race.'
Sochi will host it's first Formula One Grand Prix on 12th October. The Ferrari Formula One team were in Russia earlier this week when Marc Gene was in action for the team at Moscow City Racing. The event has been held over a number of year's and it is a great way to prepare for the first Russian Grand Prix.
Whiting went on to say that he feels that the circuit has been well prepared and that everything has been done really nicely.
Richard Cregan, the former Toyota F1 Team and Abu Dhabi circuit manager believes that the circuit will be completed by its August deadline.
