Ferrari team principal Marco Mattiacci has confirmed that the Italian outfit will be retaining their current driver line-up of Kimi Raikkonen and Fernando Alonso. Kimi Raikkonen, who returned to Ferrari this season replacing Felipe Massa who has joined the Williams Martini Racing Team.
Raikkonen has struggled in the early stages of the season and is currently in 12th place in the Driver's championship which fueled speculation that the Finn would not be at the team next season however that it is absolutely untrue and that he won't be at the team next season he will be.
Speaking to the BBC, Mattiacci said:
'I have a fantastic couple of drivers and I am very confident they will be with us next year. Everybody wants to win more championships and particularly Ferrari. Both Fernando and Kimi are very demanding and I understand their frustration.
Mattiacci went on to say:
'All the team are not satisfied with where we are. We need to give a better car, performing and competitive. At the same time their contribution is very much needed. They can make the team more united so they have a big responsibility and they understand that. There is a very good team spirit.'
Ferrari are currently in third in the Constructors championship with Sahara Force India hot on the heels. Fernando Alonso is currently in fourth place in the Driver's championship and is 86 point's behind championship leader Nico Rosberg.
Raikkonen is contracted to the team until the end of next season with an option (on his side) to drive for the team in 2016 but revealed earlier this week that he is likely to retire when his current deal with the Italian team at the end of next season as he has said that he would like to try other forms of motor racing.
