Infiniti Red Bull Racing driver Daniel Ricciardo has said that he is excited to see team mate and reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel return to form following a difficult start to the defense of his world championship for the German. As Formula One gets ready to head to Vettel's home race next weekend, he finds himself in 6th place in the Drivers championship 28 points behind Ricciardo.
While Ricciardo picked up his fourth podium of the season last time out at the British Grand Prix in Silverstone last weekend, Vettel finished the race in 5th place as result which Ricciardo has welcomed. Vettel took over testing duties from Ricciardo for the second day of this weeks Silverstone which was dedicated in Red Bull's case to a Pirelli programme.
Speaking to ESPN F1, Ricciardo said:
'I don't know if the word is improve - because he's already very good - but I'm sure his form, or whatever people are going to call it, is going to come, or it has come, In Germany I think he's going to be very hungry and show that he's ready to take it on. For me it's just to keep trying to improve, keep doing what I'm doing. Obviously I'm excited if there's a bit more in him because I think that will bring out a bit more in both of us.'
The Australian was how his day in the RB10 went on Tuesday, he said:
'I think it was successful because we were expecting rain, and that would have limited our running. We were expecting it about 2 o'clock. We had a bit of a late start and didn't think we could get a lot done but we did in the end. Quite a bit of aero testing, strapping bits and pieces on the car, sensors and whatnot, a lot of it just for the guys back at the factory to look at with the laptops.'
Ricciardo's performances this season against Vettel should not be under stated because although Vettel has struggled with setting up the new Red Bull he (Ricciardo) has shown that the RB10 has the pace after all he took victory at the Canadian Grand Prix earlier this season.
Renault have struggled so far this season compared to Mercedes however a recent management restructure at the French manufacturer which has seen former Caterham team boss Cyril Abiteboul return to Renault as Managing Director of the French company's F1 arm meaning that he will work closely with all of Renault's engine customers Red Bull, Toro Rosso, Caterham and Lotus (until the Enstone outfit move to Mercedes for 2015).
