McLaren's Jenson Button has said that he feels that the Woking based outfit are moving in the right direction following his strong fourth place finish last time out at the British Grand Prix in Silverstone where the 2009 champion qualified in third place.

Speaking at his triathlon on Saturday morning, Button said the team were satisfied with the result in Britain despite the fact that Silverstone was described as a boggy circuit for the Woking based squad. Button said that he hopes that with a number of upgrades coming to MP4-29 for the German Grand Prix that the team will be in a position to take a further step forward next weekend at the Hockeheimring.

The team may be in sixth place in the Constructors championship but are just 16 point's behind Ferrari who are currently in third place.

Button also confirmed that the teams target for the 2014 season is to finish in third place in the Constructors championship which is a realistic target for the outfit as they are closing the gap to their rivals. McLaren are already ahead in terms of performance this season from where they were at this stage last season as the team have secured two podium finishes in 2014 when last season the team failed yo secure a single podium finish which triggered a raft of changes at the team and those changes are now bearing fruit.

Button is currently in 8th place in the Drivers championship 8 point's behind Sahara Force India's Nico Hulkenberg and is 20 points ahead of McLaren tea mate Kevin Magnussen who is in 9th place.
