Lotus head to Germany with plenty of updates

(Florent Gooden DPPI for Renault Sport F1)

The Lotus F1 Team go into next weekend's German Grand Prix at the Hockenheimring with plenty of upgrades for the E22. The car will feature a new front wing, cooling devices and changes to aero package on the car The team will also have the latest engine upgrade from Renault at their disposal. Speaking about the new updates, the Lotus F1 Team's technical director Nick Chester said:

'Between what we have learnt in the Silverstone test and these upgrades, we hope to make a good step forward.'

The Enstone outfit have struggled so far this season and scored their first points at the Spanish Grand Prix in May and followed this up with another points finish at the Monaco Grand Prix. The team are currently in 8th place in the Constructors championship on eight points.

Speaking about the Hockenheim circuit Chester said:

'It's quite a mixed track with a couple of long straights and a medium-speed final section. Two of the straights are also linked by a medium to high-speed corner, which is good for us, as is having soft and supersoft tyres for this circuit.'

Chester believes that the weather will play a crucial role in the outcome of the race, so a good qualifying position on Saturday will be key. Chester also believes that the best place to overtake on the circuit is going into the hairpin.
