Rob Smedley, Williams Martini Racing's Head of Performance Engineering has heaped praise on Valtteri Bottas after the Finn secured his second podium in a row at last weekend's British Grand Prix in Silverstone. Bottas finished the Austrian Grand Prix in third place after starting that race from 2nd on the grid. In Silverstone however, he went one better in Silverstone to finish in second place behind race winner Lewis Hamilton.
Speaking to Autosport Smedley said:
'Valterri did an exceptional job, The communication between him and the pitwall was exceptional; you need that level of synergy between driver and pit and here it came off as well as it could do really.
'[But] we can't underestimate how much the [Mercedes] power unit has played in the result, because Valtteri was able to overtake cars, get past them very quickly and use the car's pace.'
Following their second place finish in Britain, Williams Martini Racing have moved in fourth place in the championship on 103 point's just three point's behind Ferrari who are currently in third place in Constructors championship.
The Grove based team have also scored point's in every Grand Prix so far this season. This compares to just 5 point's last season. So far this season the team have scored 103 point's. They are now twelve point's clear of the Sahara Force India Formula One Team.
