The German Grand Prix next weekend will mark the second time in two race weekend's that Susie Wolff will be action as she will take Valtteri Bottas' place behind the wheel of the FW36 during Free Practice one on Friday morning at the Hockeheimring. Wolff was in action at the British Grand Prix however her car came to a halt after just four lap's following an engine failure.
It was such an unfortunate way for her to end her run as she was unable to show her potential and the speed of the FW36. it is great that her next opportunity is so close and that she will hopefully get longer in the car next Friday then she did in Silverstone.
Wolff has spent an awful lot of time preparing for Formula One covering plenty of mileage in the Williams simulator in her role as development driver. She has already proven that she is ready for Formula One and that is why she has been given the opportunity to drive in practice. Prior to her outing in Silverstone Wolff had already driven the FW36 having been the first of the Williams drivers to sample the FW36 during its shakedown test over the winter.
Wolff is an extremely talented driver and knows the Hockenheim circuit extremely well following her time competing in the German Touring Car Championship with Mercedes. She also knew the Silverstone circuit having tested there last year.
It would be great to see Wolff do well in Free Practice on Friday because it is Williams engine supplier Mercedes home event and it is also her last outing in the car as the team have no plans for her to take part in other session's this season as they want to give their other driver Felipe Nasr more time in the car too.
Wolff has absolutely nothing to prove, she has already shown that she is capable of driving in F1 and it is great to see her driving such a competitive car and the work that she does for the team both track side and at the factory has helped them as she works extremely well with the team.
