British Prime Minister David Cameron was in his Oxfordshire constituency on Friday to open the new £8 million Williams Advanced Engineering facility. The facility was developed over a two year period and will allow the company to work of projects alongside the F1 operation, Williams Martini Racing, The new facilty will allow Williams Advanced Engineering to do small scale production.

The plant has enough space for 250 designers and will allow the company to carry out R&D projects. Speaking as he opened the new facility, Mr Cameron said:

'Formula One is a world beating, hi-tech industry and I am very proud that Britain and British engineers and designers play such a key role within it. Williams opening their Advanced Engineering facility in Oxfordshire is great news for the local area and a vote of confidence in our long-term economic plan to back business, create jobs and secure a better future for Britain.'

Williams aren't the only team who have a secondary business outside of their Formula One operation as the McLaren team also have a road car division called McLaren Automotive and have their McLaren Production Centre across the road from the McLaren Technology Centre.
